Review of Paths of Glory (1957) by Andy A — 09 Jan 2012
Back before Kubrick started making the epic-length films, the running-time is prefectly-suited for the story. Kirk Douglas does a great job with his role, hovering somewhere in between obedience and insolence.
After seeing more recent films of Kubrick's, it's interesting to watch one of his first films - his techniques were already being made clear 50 years ago. Not my favorite film of his, but probably somewhere in the middle, so far.
