Review of Pathfinder (1987) by Chris R — 10 Jun 2008
In short this film was incredibly difficult. Whilst the battle scenes were enjoyable and the cinematography was excellent; the overall visual effect looked like a cross between 300 and a Ridley Scott film; the story didnt really hang together somehow and the editing was appalling.
At only 1 hour 25 minutes I would think adding an extra half hour, making more use of the narrator and not jumping so stupidly between different shots (I hope I wasnt the only one who was completely lost in the cave sequece- where were the Vikings? all around them? just behind them? which direction was "behind them?") would probably work wonders for this film.
The concept is brilliant- the execution overal; average at best, appalling at worst.
