Review of Pathfinder (1987) by Duccio M — 17 Aug 2008
Pretty enjoyable as a chase movie - the neat Vikings vs. Native Americans makes it interesting, for a start - and with some brutal fight scenes thrown in. As the Vikings had subtitles, it was a shame that the American tribes all spoke English.
Most especially notable for its wonderfully vibrant yet basic colour palette; earth tones such as brown, green and the occasional blue are complemented with the deep dark black of shadows (used a lot and to great effect) and the bright whites of snow, ice and mist. One of the most visually beautiful live action films I've ever seen.
