Review of Pathfinder (1987) by Mike D — 31 Jul 2010
The Pathfinder is the story of a viking boy who ends up living with a Native American tribe after his ship is wrecked (reason unknown). Fifteen years later the Vikings return to take over the land and only he stands in their way.
The action in this flick was excellent. I got the unrated version, which is full of gratuitous blood spurts. The costumes were f'ing sweet! Vikings are the old pirates. They should make a comeback soon. They rule.
Being a history dork I noticed all the things that were correct in this movie. They did pretty well in sticking to the books. At one point the Vikings talked about settling the area after killing everyone. This must only have been a temporary plan, because Vikings rarely settled anywhere. Other than that it was right on.
