Dazzling and inventive imagery and visual composition. Pretty routine characters and story. Quite a few pieces missing from the puzzle of this invented world (like the city in the sky that's completely unexplained).
But the movie is so visually transporting that it survives the weaknesses. The movie has a pretty good, exciting-sounding score but it's too far in the background to be effectively stirring.
