Review of Patchwork (2015) by Chris M — 07 Apr 2018
The fact that this film is so poorly reviewed comes as a surprise to me. Probably because it is misgenred and marketed as a horror film. It isn't. It's a pitch black Dark comedy that lampoons older films like "The Reanimator" and other grind house horror. movie is aware of this, it even goes so far as to say how it's all impossible through Garrett, the stand in for the audience. The guy just sitting in experiencing the madness as it unrolls.
Far from a perfect film, it didn't.
seem to know what tone it wanted to take. Initially coming off like a clean horror then devolving into pure satire for the final act. The pacing of this transition is well done but probably left a few audience members scratching their heads. The attempted moral in the back ground of body positivity muddled the film further. No one of these aspects is bad. But all together it creates an odd film. Which I personally enjoy.
