Review of Patch Adams (1998) by Abel D — 15 Dec 2013
Though Williams tries hard to infuse his trademark lovable zane, and Marc Shaiman provides a suitably moving score, this late 90s dramedy is full of uncalled, and ultimately pointless, changes to a far more interesting history.
Even when that is taken out, it's just plain weak storytelling that dumbs down the medical profession, and major questions about it, to cartoon stereotypes and sappy dialogue that renders the characters completely cardboard and, when mixed with all the changes, uninteresting.
