Review of Pat Garrett & Billy the Kid (1973) by Michael K — 31 Dec 2007
Enjoyed this a lot, the best western that I've seen for a while. Combining a whole host of faces familiar to the genre it has a fairly melancholic pace with an epilogue feel to it. Bob Dylan inhabits a minor character and his music provides a mixed background to what's going on on screen with "Knockin' On Heaven's Door" garnering greater reasonance in this context.
For me though it was the pace of the film, the familiar faces and the morals of the two main cowboys depicted that made this a very pleasurable watch.
