Review of Pat Garrett & Billy the Kid (1973) by Colm M — 05 Nov 2012
The death of the old west and the looming presence of authority, laws and 'fences' as one friend betrays another. Peckinpahs final western and my favourite. Some movies capture a mood perfectly and carry it through to the final scene.
There's nothing I would change. The silences and the score are as Important as the dialogue which is sparce and near perfect. Brilliant performances from Coburn and Kristofferson. Their best infact.
Dylan acts as witness and gives us the perfect soundtrack. A complete movie and a very special western.
