Review of Passion (2013) by Michael B — 20 Jun 2013
I saw the original movie way before I knew they were remaking it. Therefore, I was pretty excited when I learned that it would starred Noomi Rapace and Rachel McAdams. And I have to admit that I was disappointed.
I was expecting this movie to be better than the original, mainly because of its cast and because I could see some things that could be fixed from the original. But I'm guessing it was just me having very high expectations, as always, and just being let down at the end.
The cinematography wasn't what I was expecting them to be. They made the movie look like it was made for TV and even though it had some great locations, its tone or light wasn't adequate. Also, the acting wasn't what I was expecting, I am a big fan of Noomi Rapace, but I don't know if it was her character, but this wasn't her best role.
On the other hand, Rachel McAdams was very good in this character, she was great in all of her scenes. The story was similar to the original movie, the main plot was the same, but with some differences like the characters and some other plot stories.
To me the highlight was the final moments of the movie, it was totally different from the original movie and was just creepy and seemed like a very unexpected twist was about to happen. But sadly, just as it was getting good, something happened and as instead of going forward it went two steps back.
Overall, it didn't live to its expectations, but at least it tried to go on a different path than the original.
