Review of Passengers (2016) by Grant E — 02 Apr 2017
I saw Passengers starting Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence yesterday and after letting my thoughts on it ferment into tangible thoughts, I guess I would share them with the world. Even though this movie came out last year and nobody cares.
Pros:
Chris Pratt is good.
Decent music.
Good special effects/set design.
Somewhat good premise.
Everything else about this movie is pretty much bad. I think it's most glaring issue is that it tries to be so many different genres at once. It tries to both be a romance and a suspense thriller and fails at both. If it had been a strict romance it could have actually been decent. Also the whole premise of the movie is dependent on there not being maintenance androids despite the fact that there are bar tending robots and seriously advanced medical devices.
