Review of Passengers (2016) by Christelclear — 06 Jan 2017
Mild Spoiler. Having watched the movie now I'm baffled by some of the negative reaction to the plot. I didn't see anything that condoned rape culture in this movie, just desperate people doing desperate things, and forgiveness, just like in the real world.
I do understand some of the criticism of the ending, it seems rushed, and the transition to forgiveness that Aurora goes through isn't very clear. It sort of just happens, and I believe that left people feeling that enough hadn't been done to show how she could forgive him which lead to some of the reaction.
That said, I thought overall the movie was good, with the aforementioned problem with the ending. Pratt and Lawrence were terrific together, and I'd love to see them in a comedy in the future.
