Review of Passage to Marseille (1944) by David D — 29 Nov 2009
They should have called it: Casablanca 2: Intrigue on the High Seas... proof that you can't take a superb cast (minus Ingrid Bergman) and replicate success... the story was as convoluted as I've ever seen (flashbacks within flashbacks within flashbacks - thats a story framed 3 times!).
.. Bogart was average, but Claude Rains was awesome as always and so was Peter Lorre - with a goatee!... oh, and what is with Max Steiner and his obsession with Auld Lang Syne? I swear the melody of that song appears in every other scene, and it's annoying as hell.
