Review of Passage to Mars (2016) by Sidney G — 05 Oct 2016
Wow. This doc sounds and looks like a fiction (neat cinematography and sound), but this is the real deal. A true-life adventure. Thought-provoking, epic, haunting. The film stays with long after. The narration is unusual.
Zachary Quinto reads the expedition log of NASA mission leader (Pascal Lee) as he would write it out loud. Purely engaging and intriguing. The parallel journey between the Arctic and Mars is very subtle and brings those worlds together in an almost surreal manner.
There is more poetry than science - even though you learn bunch of new things about Mars. You are on board with the crew, immersed. Incredible documentary. See it on the big screen if you can!
