Review of Party Monster (2003) by Michael M — 25 Dec 2008
Perez, Paris, the Kardashians and the cast of The Hills weren't the first douche bags to be famous for nothing--before them there were the Club kids. This is the story about how Michael Alig, went from a wanna-be abused kid desperate to be accepted came to be the queen of the Club kids in New York and eventually spiraled out of control selling-out and destroying just about every life he'd come into contact with in the process.
Macaulay Culkin makes one hell of a transition from precocious child star to drug addicted publicity starved murderer. Seth Green puts in the gayest performance of his life--adding a lot of laughs and humanity to an otherwise insipid farce.
It's hard to care about any of the characters in the film but like The Hills, you can't look away and as tragic as the movie was from start to finish I couldn't help but snort up every last drop.
