Review of Parkland (2013) by Jimmy H — 03 Nov 2013
Even for hard core history buffs who are really going to find it hard pressed to garner any new knowledge or interest in yet another film focusing on the period around the Kennedy Assasination, in this case the few hours leading up to it occuring and the buiral several days later of both Oswald and Kennedy, and only touching mildly on the effects it had on the hospital workers, secret service on a superficial level, Supruder who was the one who shot the film that was part of the conspriricy hearings and the Oswald family itself.
A very quiet tone and little flair makes the proceedings almost seem like a bit of a wake as the director just checks the marks in terms of what may of happened when and almost makes a conscience effort to avoid any political leanings which in itself seems a tad odd.
If he had just focused on the actual arc of the film being shot and how the footage finally got to see the light of day at the hearings at the end of the decade there might have been something there and provided much more tension in the project but unfortunately seems to be a DOA procedural and the last gasp of a film on the subject for quite a while.
