Review of Paris When It Sizzles (1964) by Emily T — 15 Feb 2007
I;m really really sorry that a genius in acting such as Audrey Hepburn was involved in such a lets say average movie. I don't know what got into the mind of the movie makers, I mean come on you have the greatest actress ever in the most beautiful sity in the world and all you come up with is THIS!!!!!! The movie chronicles a writing process where a screenwriter is gathering all his imagination to come up with a script in just three days.
And we pass through the levels of progress in his writing. But even the movie he came up with wasn't that impressing. So we have a double charged bad story movie that might present some laughs every now and then but still not up to the name of the actors.
And I can't understand why they set the movie in Paris if they won't show anything from it. They could have set it in LA, Italy or England and the story wouldn't have changed coz we don't get the french sense.
It's just a background to attract the viewers as it did with me. But thanks god we had Audrey Hepburn and William Holden to save the day. They were both brilliant. Of course everybody who is familiar with Hepburn's works will know that this is not her best work but still she was great and charming and as lovely as ever.
