Review of Paris, Texas (1984) by David M — 14 Jan 2009
Recommended by a friend as I hadn't heard of it before watching, this one is a bit of a journey film...bit like one of my favorites (Lost in Translation) You drop into a brief period of someones life, no story setting, just observing what happens.
I enjoyed the journey, and unusually found myself craving more answers than the film was willing to give. Whilst it could be said that it takes it's time getting there, its worth he time, as everything ramps up, and turns from what appears to be light story, to dark in a split second as you finally get an insight into what happened.
Mostly well performed, especially the kid, but the main star has to be the soundtrack, Ry Cooder sets the moods effortlessly throughout. - This will not be many peoples thing, but more recommendations like this for me please!!!!
