Review of Paris, Texas (1984) by Bill C — 06 Jul 2013
The great danger of isolation, Jane explains, is not just that we lose our way, but memories fade, we give up hope and are engulfed by the wilderness. Nowhere but in the vast wastelands of the American Southwest are a road-map, compass and reference points so important to our very existence.
Wim Wenders delicately translates a singular Sam Shepard / Kit Carson screenplay with vision and grace. A minimalist Ry Cooder score effectively punctuates this introspective story of redemption and sacrifice.
