"Paris, Texas" is the slowest yet most interesting film that I have ever seen. It is about a child whose parents have disappeared for four years after a couple of years since his birth. Since then, the brother of the father raised the child with his wife.

One day, the father is found collapsed in a bar from dehydration and the brother brings him home. The father is temporarily mute and shocked. Conflict ensues when the real father of the child wants him back and wants to find his wife.

There is so much here that can be appreciated. The cinematography is absolutely gorgeous covering the Texan landscape as is the score by Ry Cooder which captures the feel of the film; slow yet powerful.

The direction by Wim Wenders is some of the best direction I have ever seen in a drama film. The camera moves graciously with power that by the end our eyes and emotions are glued to the screen. The story is so simple, so layered, so captivating, so realistic, so heartfelt that I have never seen anything like it before.

It truly describes lower class life in the US. The performances from Harry Dean Stanton and Nastassja Kinski are beyond words. "Paris, Texas" has it all and then some it boasts powerful direction from Wenders, fine performances, and a fully fleshed out plot.
