Review of Paris Je T'aime (2006) by Kathleen D — 21 Jul 2009
An interesting collaboration of directors, actors and screenwriters. Some shorts were stronger than others, but there weren't any that I truly disliked. Among my favourites:
Quartier de la Madeleine by Vincent Natali- loved every minute and detail of this Gothic love story (mood, lighting, music, blowing wind, Elijah Wood...).
Place des Victories by Nobuhiro Suwa- deep, beautifully crafted, memorable.
Faubourg Saint-Denis by Tom Tyker- poetic, excellent use of narration.
Pere Lachaise by Wes Craven- sweet and charming.
Quais de Seine by Gurinder Chadha- one of my instant favourites.
Place des Fetes by Oliver Schmitz- nearly ripped my heart.
Loin du 16'eme by Walter Sales and Daniela Thomas- didn't do anything for me at first, but the more I think about it, the more I like it.
*Sighs* Now I REALLY want to watch "New York, I Love You".
