Review of Paris Je T'aime (2006) by Melissa A — 28 Jul 2009
A French film consisting of twenty-one directors tell short stories of love set in the heart of Paris. Some of the segments were just bizarre if not clever such as "Tour Eiffel" where you see two mimes fall in love in prison.
The story "Tuileries" with Steve Buscemi as a tourist sitting in a subway station, who makes a grave error of making eye contact with two paranoid lovers, was another good one. "Quartier de la Madeleine" a personal favourite with a vampire theme, and a heartfelt story called "Bastille" about a married man who is about to tell his wife that he no longer loves her, only to find out first that she has terminal leukemia and by taking care of her he rekindles the feelings he once had.
There are few others that you'll have to watch to judge for yourself. I couldn't really get into the entire movie based on all the stories, some just didn't appeal or make any sense to me, but there were a handful that I did connect with on some level which would make for an average rating.
