A whimsical patchwork of 18 five-minute shorts united by a common theme -- love in the City of Lights, Paris,.
The collection of works on display here will ensure that there is more than just a couple narratives for every person in the audience. The works themselves range from sullen to comical, to downright playful. One short depicts the personal life of a mime, while the other tells the solemn tale of a blind man who's girlfriend breaks-up with him via a cold phone call. All the short films are well written and often provoke strong emotional feelings despite such a little allotment of time.
It's fun to see the directing styles of world renowned directors pitted side by side with their peers; Gus Van Sant, Alfonso Cuaron, the Coen Brothers and more all display their signature directing styles. The acting is top notch with just as many world renowned actors as directors; Elijah Wood, Natalie Portman, Bob Hoskins, Maggie Gyllenhaal and others all perform exceptional.
The visuals of the picture are what surprised me most. From the opening shot it's evident that this collection of shorts has some serious funding behind it. In short, Paris, Je T'aime is a wonderful picture about love in Paris.
