Review of Parenthood (1989) by Bob W — 21 Dec 2007
Every possible dramatic situation they can squeeze into this movie ensues almost scaring the modern would be parent into reconsidering. But alas, the joy is found in the rollercoaster analogy. This metaphor works for me on some levels, but parenting is much more than going on a ride.
There is far more ongoing choice and responsibility. Sentimental and sweet, yes, but this movie is at least more realistic about the pains of the modern family circle than most.
