Review of Parenthood (1989) by Lord N — 21 Jun 2010
I just saw this one tonight. I had seen it earlier but not all of it but I just saw all of it tonight. I really like this one. It has a great cast with performances to match and a fantastic story coupled with an amazing screenplay. Now, I'm absolutely positive that everyone who worked on this film are parents. I watched this with my mom and she thought it was absolutely like parenthood. not in every respect naturally but there are thoughts and experiences that my mom could relate to. I however, am not a parent so I couldn't relate to this movie too much (the day will come though). Although, the fact that I am not a parent but I still enjoyed this movie and loved what they had to say is a testament to this film's outstanding quality. I would highly suggest this film to anyone especially parents. It is a fantastic film.
TRIVIA TIME: When Grandma (Helen Shaw) inhales the helium balloon says that when she was born, Grover Cleveland was President. Shaw was born on July 25, 1897, just four months and three weeks after the end of Cleveland's second term.
