Review of Parental Guidance (2012) by Stephen J — 24 Oct 2013
Parental Guidance is a perfect for a family movie night and is hilariously relatable. While contemporary films are becoming increasingly more inappropriate, this is one the entire family can enjoy. Parental Guidance accurately captures generational differences in parenting and family dynamics using humor and wit while not going over the top.
Sure, Crystal's character appears a bit forced at times and Midler couldn't go an entire movie without slipping in at least one tune, but the movie's perks far outweigh its flaws. Parental Guidance is a diamond in the rough, particularly for parents looking for sensible films.
Rent it, buy it, and watch it with your family.
