Review of ParaNorman (2012) by Rick R — 10 Mar 2014
ParaNorman (2012).
I know, the Laika Studios are located in Portland, so I'm probably very biased, but I loved ParaNorman. Laika is the same people who gave us Coraline (2009) and some of the people were from the old Will Vinton Studios and Cinemaware. It's not really claymation anymore but it is intricate stop-motion animation, none the less.
Norman Babcock (Kodi Smit-McPhee) is a young boy who can see and interact with dead people. Naturally, this makes him treated like a freak in school and misunderstood at home. The town of Blithe Hollow has been cursed by a witch and this will cause Zombies to climb out of their graves and cause havoc for the town.
Because of his abilities, he's able to figure out why this is all happening and try to stop it.
