Review of Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones (2014) by Kj P — 23 Apr 2014
After a very very disappointing fourth film, the Paranormal Activity franchise was clearly on the rocks and had no flavour left in it. "Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones" may not be the best boost the franchise needed, as it copied many elements from every found footage film out there, but most of this film, you are actually wondering if it really is still part of the same franchise, and by the end of the film, you are reassured and I thought they pulled it off well.
Many critics and fans are bashing this film, but at least this film tried, unlike some of the sequels. As demons mark certain people, they begin to get taken over by the demon inside them, and they also discover abilities and ways to travel through time.
It may seem a little over the top compared to the others, and it is, but it works, because it is not based on the original stories, it only references them. Give me flack all you want, but I enjoyed this fifth instalment.
