Review of Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones (2014) by Snake P — 24 May 2014
Early January movie releases have gotten to a point where horror movies are meant to bring in the New Year. Evidence included are movies like Texas Chainsaw and The Devil Inside. Now we have Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones to start off another year of movies, movies, movies.
The film franchise Paranormal Activity has garnered enough success at the box office for it to be given it's due for more sequels. Since the Saw franchise as reached it's end in the torture porn genre, a new one has risen in the form of the found footage genre. These Paranormal movies are rather hit and miss with me. This is due in part because of it's genre: Found Footage Horror. A new genre that has outstayed it's welcome.
4 Paranormal Activity movies before this one and this one is made to be some kind of conjuncture with the previous 4 movies, but still a different movie with a whole new set of problems hence Paranormal spirits. This time around they slowly begin to possess the body of a Latino teen. What you get is the usual cliches of standard effects integrated into the footage made to make you jump out of your seat, but really you've seen it before in the previous movies.
