Review of Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones (2014) by Kevin R — 24 Jan 2015
She put it inside me.
Jesse Arista lives in an apartment complex in the city across the hall from an eccentric lady named Ana. One strange day, shortly after Jesse's graduation, he sees his class valedictorian run out of Ana's apartment and the police go screaming by. Ana ends up being brutally murdered and the valedictorian turns up missing. Jesse and his friends sneak into Ana's apartment and discover she believes in witchcraft and find a journal. They read the journal and unleash a demon in the group that will change their lives forever.
"I just lost my boner, dude. My dicks going to be soft forever.".
Christopher Landon, director of Burning Palms and the upcoming Scouts vs. Zombies, delivers Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones. The storyline for this was just okay but the characters were interesting and I found the film a bit unpredictable (though I did predict which house they would end up in at the end). The action scenes were well done and the cast delivers solid performances for the genre. The cast includes Andrew Jacobs, Jorge Diaz, Gabrielle Walsh, and Renee Victor.
"They just sit in the basement jacking off to R. Kelly videos all day.".
I was excited to see this when I saw it was added to the Netflix queue. We watched it and I thought it was okay, about the same quality as the recent V/H/S pictures and better than some of the other Paranormal Activity pictures. This definitely isn't an epic, but it isn't a waste of time either if you're a fan of the horror genre. I'd watch this once if you enjoy horror pictures.
"Feels like shake a dick.".
Grade: C+.
