Review of Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension (2015) by Oliver Q — 24 Oct 2015
As a new chapter in the series, it was great (other than a couple of the jumpscares being incredibly predictable).
As the final film, it's terrible. Katie, who has been the face of the activity for 5 damn movies, doesn't even make an appearance in this one, not to mention that they throw away the mythology from The Marked Ones.
However, it introduces some pretty cool concepts such as a heavily modified camera that can view all the 'activity'.
It's also probably the funniest film in the series, the uncle with the pedostache acts as the comic relief of the film, which works out nicely.
Personally, I have enjoyed all of the films, they all added something new and interesting to the story, and this one was quite well done, but as I said, it doesn't wrap it up very well, it leaves a lot of questions unanswered, and I actually hope they make another one to fix it.
Another thing is that people have been complaining about how Toby 'looks terrible' and that they'd rather see him look more 'human/demonic.' I can bet you right now that if they did that, the reviewers would bitch even more about how he 'didn't look more unearthly' (like he actually does, the design for 'Toby' is a bit lacking, but still creepy and well done).
All in all, it's worth seeing for some cheap scares and a couple of laughs, but if you want to see the series wrapped up nicely you're better off staying away from it.
