Review of Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension (2015) by Scott T — 24 Oct 2015
Whereas most people kept saying the series was on a decline as one sequel came after another. I am definitely on the outside of that circle. I felt as it went on it just got better and better. The first one as much as everyone loved it I felt it was a nice new touch to the whole founding footage however it didn't blow me away in a genre that up to that point had become a bit repetitive.
The 2nd one was about on the same level but provided some nice background story. The 3rd one offered us a nice prequel tone with both demon girl growing up. It was also nice to be watching everything through good old fashion 80s VHS.
The 4th one offered up some newer touches other than just found footage off a plain camera. It also offered up webcam views, more ghostly moments such as some levitation effects, better scares, the creepy kid scenario, Katey showing off her human/demon side and quite frankly better character development.
It just felt like the script did better on the development of the younger teen characters over the most of the adult characters in the series. The Marked Ones may have been the weak link but certainly offered up a nice twisted ending connecting to the original.
As for Ghost Dimension, it offers up the best and top notch scares, more horror elements to give the founding footage genre more substance even going as far as having an exorcism. With anymore praise I may start spilling out some serious spoilers so I will conclude by stating perhaps if I did have any tiny issues with the movie, as twisted as the ending was it still left a lot of unanswered questions to be in the last of the series which I really hope changes.
Too much was offered here to just end the series.
