Formulaic in the worst way. What started as a perfect understanding of less is more, has devolved into a trope of it's own. The nearly exact same events occur in all of these movies. The formula is so played out that they've resorted to absolutely horrible cgi effects to try to get scares.

There's a jump or two and a good looking blonde that will keep teenage boys watching, otherwise there is nothing of interest here.
