Review of Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension (2015) by Orlando O — 20 Jan 2016
The franchise of what started the found footage horror films is finally coming to an end with Paranormal Activity The Ghost Dimensions. The first two films were entertaining and had a creepy atmosphere that would keep you up in the middle of the night.
As a few more sequels were made, it was expanding the story, about witches, cult, and summoning a demon. The last few films also lacked scares and were quite boring, as nothing really happened in the period of the  3/4 of the film and the ending would leave in a cliffhanger.
This last film is not as disappointing as the last few movies were, it does have some spine chilling moments as we see a demon roaming among the new family its trying to stalk. The concept revolving a custom made camera that can see through the invisible waves and able to capture the demon on camera is a stupid excuse to change the direction and trying to make it scary.
Well it does have its decent amount of scares and jolts with the demon floating on the ceiling, rising from the floor, impaling characters with its long reach arms. It does remind me the kind of atmosphere that would be in a Silent Hill film.
The sixth film does answer some questions, like Who is Toby? The mysterious figure that every little girl seems to be talking too in the previous films. Also, the plot is probably getting a little ridiculous, involving symbolic doorways to other dimensions (time traveling to the past).
The plot is never fully revealed, besides bits of a cult known as the âmid-wivesâ? trying to summon the demon and bringing in the anti-christ. These type of supernatural horror movies, as family try to get help from a priest to save their little girl.
It is easy to tell, that things are not going to go well in the final several minutes of the movie. It does not give a real ending yet again, as the body count rises, and they try to destroy the demon.
The ending can be frustrating, as the writers kill off characters and lose control on trying to end it. It is for what it is, and the sixth installment is an improvement and entertaining as it ties the last five movies together.
