Review of Paranormal Activity 4 (2012) by Lara D — 12 Feb 2013

I won't lie, I'm a fan of the first three movies in this franchise. I don't at all understand the hate that the films received. I thought the first three, the first specifically, had a great take on minimalist horror. But then they threw everything out the window and presented us with this pile.

This movie is garbage. Nothing happens. The scares are all of the jump variety and almost always are followed with some form of comic relief which made me feel as though I wasn't watching a horror film at all. The tie-in with the first three films is terribly executed. It is clear to me that they've run out of creative ideas for this franchise, but will continue to milk it for all it's worth and run it without dignity right into the ground.
