Review of Paranormal Activity 4 (2012) by Laurent P — 06 Mar 2013
At first I thought, "Paranormal Activity 4: All the same gags, but now with fart jokes!" However, as the move marched on, I began to hate it less. Children are inherently scary, and the one here is a shining example.
Speaking of The Shining, I like the nod to Kubrick with the kid riding around the house on his tricycle thing. Anyway, the scary kid is so scary he wears socks with sandals, there are more kitchen mishaps as the wife should have been using the santoku to cut vegetables in the first place, the inconsistent inclusion of timestamps sometimes makes you wonder whether sudden movements are supposed to be scary or are just normal edits, teenagers are annoying, and the quick CGI demon face morph is incredibly passe at this point.
Yes, the fourth captures some of the same tension and fright as the first, but enough already.
