Review of Paranormal Activity 4 (2012) by James W — 31 Oct 2013
It's the least memorable in the franchise as it doesn't sustain a haunting atmosphere and has one too many daylight scenes, but despite that Paranormal Activity 4 is still enjoyable and a good addition to the demonic franchise.
The deep rumbling bass that occurs when the entity is near comes around so many times and the jumps are very frequent, I leapt out my seat a few times. There's some really good scenes of suspense too, the best being when Alexondra Lee is cooking, turns around and her knife whips up towards the ceiling and you're sitting there wondering if she's going to get stabbed.
I enjoyed all the new characters in this fourth outing as they all provided some good laughs, and I was very happy that the gorgeous Katie Featherston made a return. The acting is a bit shaky at times just like it's camera counterpart, it looks like some of the actors are about to burst out laughing, but that didn't bother me at all as I was fearing the signature 'Paranormal Activity Slow Camera Pan'.
This is a must see for the franchise fans, like myself, the shocks and gasps creep up on you many times and it's surprisingly violent, necks are broken and bodies are cracked. A solid 8 out of 10 from me (Look out for the send up of The Shining).
