Review of Paranormal Activity 4 (2012) by David B — 08 Nov 2013
The mood is often playful, with teases and fake-outs that are sometimes humorous and usually right before shocks. Violence is rare, quick and devoid of lingering close-ups. Admittedly, the franchise is stretching thin but luckily this film doesn't recycle old scares but twists and makes them new.
The cast are great, although passing through a weak script, do a great job producing the scares and showing the danger their in. The ending is good, if a little sudden and weird. No where near as good as the first, better then the second but just missing out against the third film.
Although this film's strong suit is that it finally feels contemporary. Worth a look and way better than I thought it would.
