The formula remains the same, surprise, surprise. This is also the laziest portrayal of the 1980's ever, where's there's absolutely no cultural signifier or anything that lets you know that it takes place during that time period except for the captions. Somehow, these people had high definition cameras and straight hair in 1988.

But two things worth noting that save it from being the most useless movie I've seen all year: the high budget allows for some elaborate moments that's a nice change of pace and the last 10 or so minutes borders on semi-awesomely, genuinely spooky, where the protagonist gets trapped in ParanormalWorld.
