Review of Paranormal Activity 3 (2011) by Tony B — 17 Jan 2013
Paranormal Activity 3 is a horror film set before the events of both previous films. Now, all in all, this film is satisfying in a variety of aspects. Having seen the previous PA's, I felt it refreshing to see the two sisters when they were beginning to be tormented by this demonic figure.
Some aspects were used, such as the 'Bloody Mary' or the small closet, which worked and kept me on edge. The kids and the adults were all pretty good, delivering a real attitude to their characters, in a situation being kept real by the found footage effect, which you accept to be the found footage of an old tape, despite the high quality.
The writing and directing seemed fine, despite some recycled tricks and a few exaggerations that I didn't feel the film needed. Now, overall, this film is a fun horror movie and, as such, I'm keeping my rating in that exact category, making sure not to compare it to anything huge, even in the horror genre.
This film is enjoyable and anyone who likes some nice scares should be in for a treat, when watching this movie.
