Review of Paranormal Activity (2007) by Charlieh — 24 Oct 2009
This movie gets a three from me just because they were somehow able to get it in theatres. The hype is all there, but the movie just can't seem to catch up to it. I say all this as a skeptic in the first place, but I enjoy horror movies overall (Blair Witch Project and the similar Japanese film Noroi being two of my favorites.
) That being said, if you're not on the "Ghost Hunters" bandwagon, I'd recommend not wasting your time. The concept is interesting, but it lead up to almost nothing. I literally fell asleep about an hour in, woken only by my girlfriend when the "climax" was hitting its stride, if it could even be called that.
If you're into ghost chasing TV shows and taking pictures of dust you can later call "orbs," then this film should satisfy. For those of us in the real world, it can hardly be considered a film.
