Oren Peli successfully delivers one terrifying piece of horror work. "Paranormal Activity" is genuinely chilling and effective, especially considering the measly budget. Yes, it's a little slow on occasion, but Peli's ability to coax terror out of the audience without using cheap scare tactics more than makes up for it.
Be warned: the last 15 minutes will leave you gasping for air.
