In true "Blair Witch" style, Paranormal Activity makes you believe that what you are watching is actually happening. The gradual buildup throughout the film keeps viewers on the edge of their seat as things begin to intesify as the film progresses.
Think of it as the Blair Witch project except things actually happen.
