Review of Paranormal Activity 2 (2010) by Brody F — 26 Feb 2012

So I knew what to expect this time round. Chips and chocolate at the ready I popped in the disc, cranked up the sub and pressed play..... and then I fell for the trap.

The less is more approach of the first movie was again apparent and I found myself thinking that this wasn't as scary. The tension however was becoming unbearable as I waited for the inevitable.....

There is a lot of time spent here viewing security cameras with not a lot going on and this really worked for me. When it does take off, the bump in the night factor is ramped up quite considerably and the addition of a toddler makes it all that more unnerving.

The parallel story line blends in very well. I can only guess that it was written after the success of the first movie but this wasn't apparent.

The ending was a little quick but still very satisfying. If you blink though you may miss it.

I really like these movies especially when watched under the right conditions. Seeing it on tv in the daytime without a decent sound system would only lead to disappointment.
