Review of Paranormal Activity 2 (2010) by Ben D — 20 Jan 2013
More cameras, more special effects, more victims but somewhere along the ride it loses some of the spark that made the first special.
I won't waste time writing about the story but I will say it ties together nicely with the first movie and as it goes on it brings both movies together very well. Without any spoilers you get a prequel and then finally a continuation. Having more characters and more cameras means more fun and most impressive is the way the director gets the bests shots from the dog and young child Hunter. There is something slightly more disturbing when seeing an animal trying to defend a young child from the un defendable. Paranormal activity 2 is actually a very good horror with some great suspense building demonstrated and good performances and special effects it's just that we know what's coming it's not fresh enough and other than crossing the t's and dotting the I's it's not offering enough new material. If you missed the original you could watch this and the whole story is there for you and it's a good horror movie I just can't help thinking the first was better.
