Review of Paranormal Activity 2 (2010) by Tristan D — 13 Jan 2012
After a family witnesses a series of "break-ins" in their household, all members agree on setting up security cameras around their home. But this is no "break-in" movie, this is a "paranormal" movie. Once they become curious of watching the tapes-they realize that the occurrences they have each been dealing with, are much more harmful than what they reflected it to be.
There is nothing new about this sequel in which follows, Paranormal Activity but at least it's premise is still frightful. Of course, this was expected to happen once the word got out that there was a Paranormal Activity 2-so this is nothing to be shocked with. The first one did not revolve around blood, nor GGI (Computer Generated Imagery) and neither does this one, which is a positive gaining. And rather than being a completely different film from the first one, this one still follows the story of Katie and Micah who were in the first film-this will come as a benefit to fans. This second conclusion also brings in the troubles and the greatness in which comes from being a family. These troubles include: A disobedient teen who brings her boyfriend into the house while babysitting-when she knows very well that she is not supposed to do so, however, it is admittedly odd how her parents did not find this out-considering the fact that the house is set up with security cameras recording everything in the day. And the examples this film shows for the greatness in being a family include: Being able to smile due to the humorously cute things a baby may do, of course sometimes the baby isn't meaning to be cute-he is actually trying to show that he is afraid of something "invisible". Now, it wouldn't be worth spoiling the ending-but just as in the first one, Katie does something abnormal. Fans will adore this second conclusion, even if it does not seem to cover any new ground.
