Beautiful and contemplative, although I never quite could shake a slightly homosexually voyeuristic undertone, which, although not problematic per se, was a little distracting and made it hard for me to become engrossed in the story at times.
A great movie nonetheless, but not quite as good as some of van Sant's other films.
