Review of Paranoid Park (2007) by Bach P — 06 Nov 2008
Gus Van Sant's latest film, "Paranoid Park" draws from more influences then I count. Best described as a teenage "Pulp Fiction" on medication, the film plays out as a hodgepodge of themes and ideas.
At its core, the "Paranoid Park" examines an accidental murder and a teenagers attempt at trying to cope with the loss. Played through a series of out-of-order flashbacks, the film slowly unravels itself to the viewer.
"Paranoid Park" often meanders into other teenage issues, such as the age old themes of sex, drugs, and etc. In the end, the "Paranoid Park" falls just a little flat. The acting was average all-around, and the ending culminated into a big sigh for me.
