Review of Paranoid Park (2007) by Kelsey H — 21 Dec 2008
You know, I was so excited to see this and it definitely turned in a direction I didn't expect. Which really wasn't any direction at all. I appreciated the use of camera angles and little bits of film noir, but I really overall wasn't that impressed.
I thought it was smart he used new actors, minus Taylor Momsen which was a draw out of focus most of the time. I suppose that I was impressed by Gabe Nevin, but half the time he was sitting he didn't have any expression or minute change almost like he was just staring at you because Sant told him to.
The girl who played Macy, I think Laura McKinney, was kind of, yeah not very good. A lot of the acting was much too awkward and I thought Jake Miller would've done better than that. I suppose I'm just so used to non mumblers.
I must say I really loved the leaf scene, that wasn't even really a scene, it was just so bright compared to the darkness of the frieght tracks and such. I don't think I will ever get the memory of seeing that security guard out of my head.
That really stirred something up in me I would've never figured.
