Review of Paranoid Park (2007) by Sidd V — 06 Jan 2009
Extremely long shot compositions filmed of skaters walking down hallways or extended super 8mm footage of kids riding skate parks can't solve this film's plot holes, deal with its moral premise or give us much insight into the world of the "disaffected youth".
Much of the cinematography and sound design do serve the mood of the film well, but the shots in the skate park don't feel authentic to that world. I bet most of the critics that praise the skate scenes have never been stepped on a skateboard or been to a skate park.
